The certification process provides textile and sewn products manufacturers with a uniform, scientific benchmark for the evaluation of potentially harmful substances in textiles.

The STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX is a worldwide consistent, independent testing and certification system for raw, semi-finished, and finished textile products and accessory materials. Examples of end-products that can be certified include all types of apparel, domestic and household textiles, bed linen, terry products, and many other sewn products. Testing for the STANDARD 100 covers several hundred regulated individual substances, such as banned Azo colorants, formaldehyde, pentachlorophenol, cadmium, and nickel, as well as numerous harmful chemicals that are not yet legally regulated.
Products that are now certified under the OEKO-TEX Standard 100 include all Champion Thread Polyester, Nylon, Cotton, and Flame Retardant (FR) industrial sewing threads.
